Compare the same qualification and study period

For an undergraduate commerce degree, compare course content and majors alongside cost and practical arrangements. These examples cover three providers.

Each programme card identifies the fee year and the period covered. Use the linked provider information to check your intake. When a later year’s fee is not yet established in the example, request a current quote before making a commitment.

Check the subjects behind the degree title

Two degrees with the same name can offer different majors, compulsory courses and combinations. Open the programme structure and list the subjects you would actually take. Ask about prerequisites, progression into later-year courses and whether your preferred combination can be completed in the advertised duration.

Practical projects, internships and exchanges can have selection criteria or extra costs. Check whether an opportunity is required, optional or competitively allocated, and ask how students secure a place.

Check the entry route for your qualifications

Use each provider’s international entry information for the qualification you hold. Academic entry and English-language evidence are separate checks. Country-specific tables, approved tests, minimum scores and validity periods can differ between providers and programmes.

If a requirement is unclear, send the provider a concise question with the exact qualification and proposed intake. Keep its written answer with your offer. Use the NZQA preparation guide when an assessment is requested, and confirm who needs the assessment before paying for one.

Bring the programme into a complete budget

Tuition is one part of the student budget. Add compulsory fees, insurance, accommodation for the weeks you need, transport, food beyond any meal package and personal costs. For later years, label your estimate as a projection until the provider confirms the charges.

A cheaper first-year option can have a higher total if it takes longer or requires additional accommodation, travel or equipment. Compare the same study horizon and record the costs still awaiting a quote.

Ask these questions before choosing an offer

  • Which major and courses does this fee estimate cover, and what is excluded?
  • Are all the subjects I need offered at this campus and intake?
  • What conditions remain on the offer, and when must I meet them?
  • When is payment due, and what changes if I defer or withdraw?
  • What refund policy applies to my exact circumstances and accommodation agreement?

Save the answers in the before-you-pay checklist. Check course entry and admission with each provider, and use official immigration guidance for visa requirements.
